Oñate has hired Charles Donohoe to coach the varsity team in the 2017 campaign.
Donohoe makes his way to Las Cruces from Buffalo, Texas, where he last coached the Buffalo Bison volleyball team to a 7-11 (7-7) record in 2014. He also had a brief stint in Truth or Consequences, NM coaching girls basketball, where he led the Hot Springs Lady Tigers to a 10-17 (1-3) record in 2012-13.
Coach Donohoe has his work cut out for him where he will compete in arguably the most competitive district in the state: 6-3A. Oñate faces perennial powerhouse and ’16 State Champion, Centennial, and Las Cruces, ’16 State Runner-Up, whose stock is on the rise.
