This pits #1 and #2 in Gadsden. Splitting pool play at the VolleyBash, these two team’s strengths compliment each others weaknesses–offense vs defense. While the Panthers don’t have many tall hitters, Pojoaque proved the Storm can be brought down with some smart players and some smart coaching.

Cloudcroft at Lordsburg  @2:30

Lordsburg, #10, take on #5 Cloudcroft. The Bear’s stock is on the rise, but don’t count out the Mavs squad; they’re a scrappy bunch with something to prove. The only thing that is worrying is Lordsburg hasn’t quite faced  the quality of an opponent that they will see the rest of the season. This district play opener for both teams is a big deal, with MVCS keeping an eye on things.

Las Cruces at Oñate @ 12:00 Noon

I think the front line for both teams will make for an interesting match up. In the middle, Sierra Ludington made an impact for the ‘Dawgs against Mayfield. Oñate middle Leiyona Young is an athletic junior making an impact; she had a fantastic match against Carlsbad and Las Cruces needs to contain her if they want to win.
