St Pius tramples Albuquerque Academy for the third time to win the district 5-4A Championship, 25-16, 25-17, 25-23.
St Pius simply over-powered the Chargers in the first 2 games, but Academy fought hard in the third. They weren’t quite strong enough to win the set.
All of the St Pius players were involved in the victory. Sara Weber led with 14 kills, Lexi Biondi added 12, middles Hannah Grazda and Lauren Roveto as well as right side Cessie Ballou had 6 apiece.
Cessie had a great game adding several key sets from the right side. The tough back row of the Sartans, Gabby Rivera, Chani Addy and Felicity Jackson did a super job of covering the court. Setter Jasmine Serna did her usual beautiful job of setting and serving.
St Pius is looking forward to the State Tournament and should go in as number one seed.
