Alamo gives Mayfield fight; loses

The Lady Tigers stole a set from the Trojans, but couldn’t muster much more, losing in four on Saturday, 23-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15. Looks like the same service bug that bit Mayfield last Tuesday, feasted on Alamogordo with a total of 16 service errors on the match. Callie Chambers led both teams with 16 kills.

Up next for Alamo is Oñate and Mayfield hosts the Lady Panthers, both Tuesday evening.

Read about the match in the Alamogordo Daily News.

St. Pius wins big

The Sartans started district play on Friday night, with a convincing smack-down of Atrisco Heritage 25-16, 25-6, 25-11. Up next is Albuquerque Academy on  Tuesday. As some of you have been reading there is a discussion here about the rightful ownership of the first place ranking at 4A; St. Pius, Artesia and Albuquerque Academy. This match could sway the voting coaches, but don’t be surprised if nothing changes–I think the voting in 4A has been a little “off”, to say the least.

Carlsbad drops match to Santa T in five

A rough loss for the Cavegirls for sure, Santa Teresa is an improving program, and the competition they faced at the Volleybash last weekend definitely prepared them for a match like this.
